This hands-on class introduces kids ages 6–18 to the safe and confident use of knives and axes. Participants will learn about different types of tools and what they’re used for, along with proper grips, safe handling techniques, and best practices for working with wood. With a strong focus on safety and awareness, this is a great opportunity for kids to build practical skills and prepare for the upcoming camping season. By the end of the class, they’ll feel more confident, capable, and ready to use these tools responsibly in the outdoors.
We will meet at the Alberta Picnic Shelter
Additional Information:
Please wear weather appropriate clothing. A good rule is to dress for colder than what the forecast is calling for. This includes sturdy, closed toe footwear and appropriate gear for rain or snow.
Pack along plenty to drink and a couple of snacks.
Youth are welcome to bring a knife if it is FIXED BLADE (non-folding) otherwise all tools and materials are provided. Youth can use cutting tools only after knife safety instruction.
These classes are drop off or parented. You know your child the best, however if you are dropping off please connect with Rob directly before the class.
Parents and siblings under 6 years old are welcome to hang out and observe.
