Description

This 2-day “anti-summer camp” experience is designed for kids who prefer a slower pace, working with their hands, and connecting more quietly with the natural world. Instead of high-energy games or packed schedules, we’ll focus on bushcraft and land-based skills like carving walking sticks and simple utensils, creating natural dyes and paints from plants and mushrooms, and making practical items like wild salves and teas.

With a small group and plenty of one-on-one support, participants can take their time, build skills at their own pace, and really settle into the process. This camp is a great fit for youth who enjoy creative, lower-energy activities and want to learn useful, nature-based skills in a calm and supportive environment. Whether they’re new to this kind of work or already curious and experienced, they’ll leave with new knowledge, handmade items, and a deeper confidence in what they can create from the land.

We will meet at Picnic Site 1 which is by the new washrooms.

Additional Information:

Please wear weather appropriate clothing. A good rule is to dress for colder than what the forecast is calling for. This includes sturdy, closed toe footwear and appropriate gear for rain or snow.

Pack along plenty to drink and a couple of snacks.

Youth are welcome to bring a knife if it is FIXED BLADE (non-folding) otherwise all tools and materials are provided. Youth can use cutting tools only after knife safety instruction.

These classes are drop off or parented. You know your child the best, however if you are dropping off please connect with Rob directly before the class.

Parents and siblings under 6 years old are welcome to hang out and observe.
