Come and join Kaykima for two days focusing on winter/cold weather survival.
DAY 1 (10am - 5pm)
Cold Weather Shelters - after a discussion about what makes an effective shelter participants will put those ideas to work to create a winter shelter they believe will be effective followed by a shelter review and reflection.
Cold Weather First Aid - we will look into common cold weather emergencies, how they can be avoided and treated. Particicpants will run scenerios where they are first responders.
Winter Fire starting - fire in the winter presents some unique challenges, this class will cover the science as well as tips and tricks to get a fire going in less than ideal conditions.
DAY 2 (10am - 5pm)
Foraging and Survival Food - finding food in winter is a challenge. This class will cover some emergency food sources that are available year round. We will also have some warming winter tea.
Salve Making - great for winter-cracked hands and lips. Participants will be able to take home the salve they make for themselves or to give as a gift.
Fire Starter Making - make a "cheat" fire starter for your next fire. Great to keep in your vehcile if you ever need to make a fire unexpectedly in difficult conditions.
