This workshop will cover more advanced considerations when starting a fire such as the science of fire and an In depth look at Tinder, Kindling and Fuel. After leaning some tips and tricks participants will build thier own fire using only natural materials and a variety of lighting methods.
1-3pm Bushcraft Torches - This hands on class will first cover knife safety and proper use before getting into creating your own bushcraft torch using all natural materials that can be used for light, moving fire, and emergency signalling.
WHAT TO BRING
Dress for colder than what the forecast calls for
Snacks, lunch, plenty to drink
Non-folding knife (optional)
If you have time and would like to collect hardened spruce resin (sap) from pine or spruce trees to bring to the class that would be great but not necessary.
