Mushrooms play a vital role in both natural ecosystems and human life. Ecologically, they act as decomposers, breaking down organic matter and recycling nutrients essential for plant growth. Many mushrooms form symbiotic relationships with trees, supporting forest health and biodiversity.
Join Kaykima for a fun afternoon of learning more about our fungi friends. The class will cover what is edible, medicinal and useful specifically in the fall months. A big focus with this class will be on fungi, which are easily identified but there will be some plant and/or berry bunny trails. Before hitting the trails we will hit the books and take a look at some recommended field guides. After the foraging walk there will be a cooking demonstration where we can sample some of what we have foraged.
